Dear Quarterbackers:
An emotional start to the week (Coach Fulmer’s announcement of stepping down at end of season) was capped off by one of the biggest upsets in Tennessee football history. No one expected the Wyoming Cowboys to come into Neyland and take care of business, but no one told the team from Laramie they were not allowed to win.
In retrospect, we were a prime target. An already wounded team that had to endure the distractions of this past week proved to be a prime target for an opportunistic team that was starving for their own success. Our offense scored 20 points, unfortunately 13 of them went to the Cowboys.
We must close out with wins against Vandy and Kentucky because…they are Vandy and Kentucky. Otherwise, we are in danger of losing the most games in a single season in all of Tennessee history. Let’s play for pride and send our beloved coach out with wins over the Dores and Kittens.
Remember, the Kentucky game (Saturday, November 29) has been designated as Phillip Fulmer day. Let’s fill every seat to salute one of the greatest Volunteers of all time, if not THE greatest.
Tomorrow at Calhouns on the River, we will get to see and hear Johnny Majors who will be speaking to us for the first time in many years. John Majors needs no introduction, but for a refresher you can go to www.knowqbclub.com and see his bio.
As Coach Fulmer stated on his show today, as one door closes others are opened. To that I will say that I am optimistic for the future and that Tennessee will indeed raise the trophies again!
It is great to be a Tennessee Vol!
Mike Todd
