Dear Quarterbackers;
We have many reasons to be excited about our Football Vols
for the ’09 season!
After the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky sacrificed
themselves at the altar of Neyland Stadium, we have tangible evidence that it truly
“Is Time.” Time for Lane Kiffin and our prestigious staff to
form their own identify and bring back the swagger that once reigned on The
Hill. Time for opponents to know that we will be bringing it for 60 minutes,
whether it is the first or fifth string. Time for us to build on what has been
done in the past, without making history an anchor but a rudder to even more
success!
OK, they say it was just the hilltoppers. I understand. They
say it was a pop quiz instead of a final exam and I get that too. With UCLA
coming in this Saturday, we surely will have a more formidable test. But no one
can say we didn’t play with purpose; a sense of urgency. Every play, …getting
after it and I believe it is a preview of more of the same.
Monday, September 14th, we will begin our
Knoxville Quarterback Club meetings at Calhouns on the River. It will be a
celebration Monday, celebrating our team, our university and the game of
football. The high school offensive and defensive players of the week will be
honored. We will recognize an official that has made huge contributions and
sacrifices to promote and honor the game we love. We will catch up with a
Yesterday’s Hero as well. Then…
Gene
Wojciechowski of ESPN will be our guest speaker. Gene, a UT alumnus, is
extremely entertaining with his insight and extremely knowledgeable about the
whole college football scene. He is a must see in our speaker lineup
this year. Please read his bio and introduction on our website at www.knoxqbclub.com.
Please join us at Calhouns after we have Bruised the Bruins.
It won’t be the same without you!
Go Vols!
