Dear Quarterbackers:
Much easier to write this weekly update after a win verses that other potential outcome.
On a sweltering hot day, the Tennessee Vols got their first win of the 2008 season. UAB provided a few moments, but in the end the happy locker room was colored in orange. Let’s savor this victory and get ready for the Gators of Florida!
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have not played our best football yet! That’s a good thing. Next week would be a real good time to do so because anything less will turn this letter into a football obituary. That’s not a good thing!
As fans and members of the Knoxville Quarterback Club, we need to turn Neyland Stadium into an alligator mortuary on Saturday. NO LIZARDS should be able to escape unless they are soon to be a new belt or pair of shoes! One game a season does not make, but we all know what is at stake. Although the visor has moved up north to the “other” USC, I am beginning to …well…want to take Urban out into the country, if you know what I mean. It is time to make him Rural Meyer, at least next Saturday. I don’t need to tell anyone that we have yet to beat the fellow, so it is time to get that done.
Tomorrow our guest speaker is Lloyd Carr, former Michigan Head Coach who has East Tennessee ties. I have heard Coach Carr speak and you are in for a delight. One of a few men that are members of the national championship coaching fraternity, Coach Carr is one of the most humble and genuine people you will ever meet. He represents the very best of college football and makes the game we love that much better.
Don’t forget the players of the week, the official of the week and the Yesterday’s Hero honored every Monday during our meeting. Check out our new website, www.knoxqbclub.com for up to minute news on our club.
Yep, it’s that week. Let’s do our part and support the Orange and White.
It is truly Great to be a Tennessee Vol!
